In 2018 I am delighted to offer once again our most popular tour,  “The Two Festivals” tour.

“The Two Festivals” tour offers an all-inclusive full immersion Umbrian affair. Luxurious accommodation, intimate excursions, Italian language classes and the most amazing cuisine all shared amongst Antonella’s family and friends. A journey to engage all senses. The name “The Two Festivals ” highlights our participation in the Festival Dei Due Mondi di Spoleto and at the Umbria Jazz Festival in Perugia. These two festivals are world famous, attracting both major international and emerging artists. We have sought out the most intimate performances to connect with these extraordinary artists. On this tour you will experience the best of the Arts and of Jazz music under the stars in the beautiful towns of Spoleto and Perugia. Our bases will be: Spoleto and Perugia.

A truly unique tour, Antonella’s relationships and friendships offer an “insiders” experience of these two weeks that mark the Zenith of the cultural calendar in Umbria. Let Antonella take your hand and lead you through our most elegant offering.

Antonella Nichinonni, your host, was born and raised in Casigliano di Strettura, a small hamlet on a hilltop just off the old Flaminia Way midway between Terni and Spoleto in Umbria, Italy’s green heart.

Her love affair with Umbria started from birth and even though she now shares her time between Australia and Italy, her passion and connection to Umbria and to its people remain strong. A university graduate with Honours and a former lecturer at Sydney University, she now runs her own school. Antonella has no greater pleasure than to be able to share her home, its passing traditions and seasons, retaining and renewing the friendships of generations past of her family and friends with her students.

Antonella personally hosts all her tours. She feels a strong necessity to respect the generosity of her hosts, family and friends and wishes that her activities will have only the lightest touch on their way of life.

As such these tours are by necessity very small in scale and frequency and available only to a select cliental.

 

TOUR HIGHLIGHTS AND INCLUSIONS

  • Literary Interlude with Professor Rodney Lokaj (Medieval Philologist)
  • Walk in the countryside from Spoleto to Monteluco to visit the “Sacred Woods”
  • Explore Umbria’s countryside in a vintage car

  • Attend performances at the FESTIVAL DEI DUE MONDI DI SPOLETO (pending programme) and UMBRIA JAZZ in Perugia.
  • Italian Language Classes “all’aria aperta”
  • Cheese making, stile “artigianale”
  • Truffle hunt with dogs.
  • 13 breakfasts, 11 dinners and 8 lunches with local wines
  • 13 nights accommodation (twin share due to high season but there is limited opportunity to secure a single room at additional cost).
  • All transfers by air conditioned coach (from Perugia railway station on the 11th of July, for entire journey and including the last transfer to the railway station in Spoleto on the 24th of July for those departing on this day)

 

Visit:

  • Umbria from the north to the south: Perugia, Gubbio, Lago Trasimeno, Orvieto, Deruta, Spoleto, Fonti del Clitunno, Trevi, Spello,Monteluco, Assisi, Montefalco, and Antonella’s village. Tour begins in Spoleto and ends in Perugia.

Not included:

• Airfares, taxes and insurance
• Entry to museums and extras not listed on the inclusions

Requirements:

All fees are non-refundable. Personal Travel and Trip Cancellation insurance are mandatory to participate on the tour and should be obtained when purchasing the package.

Tour Suitability:

This tour is suitable for couples or singles and only to those who have purchased the full package.

You must read and sign a Terms and Conditions and a booking form when you make a deposit.

Small groups of 5-12 participants. In the event it does not reach its minimum number, An Italian Affair reserves the right to cancel, 60 days before the start of the tour. (see Terms and Conditions).

Our accommodations in Perugia and Spoleto are luxury accommodation inner city and in the countryside (4 or more stars).
