Cari Amici,

In 2016 I am delighted to share again with you my love affair with my home, Umbria.

On our journey, embraced warmly by my family and friends, we will engage in all the elements of language and learning, cuisine, literature and nature to celebrate a once in a lifetime Italian experience.

Centered around the festivities of high summer and the solstice, our exploration extends from the mountains and sublime nature of Pian Grande of Castelluccio Di Norcia to the majesty of Spoleto, the
cultural heart of Umbria , from the heights of luxury of the world famous Palazzo Seneca to the simple warmth of my Uncle’s terrace, under a million stars in my Village, Casigliano.

This year as we acknowledge the still point between the Sun and the Earth I invite you to take my hand, to discover and allow ourselves a still point in our own lives, amongst the olives and vines, with old friends and new, glass of wine in hand as the last rays to the summer sun dapple our cheeks in the green heart of Italy.

Perched up on a hill top just off the old Flaminia Way is my "home" Casigliano di Strettura. It is a very small hamlet where time seems to have stopped and where today the locals still celebrate the FESTA DI SAN MARCO. The village's tiny church of San Marco is prepared for the day, biscuits "biscotti di San Marco" are baked to be blessed and shared by everyone . For locals it is an occasion to come together as a community and to pray to the Saint for a bountiful harvest. Oh boy how I remember this special day!!

Grazie mille zio Maurizio e ciao a tutti a Casigliano
